The term \u201cdesign\u201d in Digital Design (DD) naturally includes the meaning of \u201cdesign as appearance or form,\u201d but it also encompasses broader concepts such as planning, engineering design, and ideation. In other words, \u201cDD\u201d reflects the intent to explore and create various things using digital technologies.<\/p>\n
The DD Course is a new program established in the 2025 academic year (Reiwa 7), designed to span across four fields\u2014Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic, Information, and Chemical and Biological\u2014centered on digital design technologies. Unlike other courses, students enrolled in this course will belong to the DD Course while also selecting one of the four specialized fields mentioned above.<\/p>\n
A key feature of this course is the class \u201cPractical Engineering in Digital Design,\u201d which is based on the concept of \u201cengaging in research from the early years.\u201d In this class, students independently select their own themes and actively engage in inquiry-based projects. Additionally, each student in the course is assigned a faculty mentor who provides comprehensive support\u2014from selecting a research theme to carrying out the project.<\/p>\n
